Blue State Coffee, located at 84 Wall St., has 100% certified fair trade organic coffee and locally grown food sourcing. They also donate 5% of proceeds to various causes, including literacy and action organizations on campus. It is open until 10pm and offers plenty of comfortable seating.
Thain Family Café, located in Bass Library Part of the Yale Sustainable Food Project, the Thain Family Café’s mission is to bring “good-tasting, soundly-produced, and reasonably priced food to the center of Yale’s campus.” Featuring fair trade organic coffees and organic teas and other products, as well as foods prepared with locally grown products.
Blue Dog Café, located in the McDougal Grad Center at 320 York St. A student run café and coffee bar with direct trade gourmet espresso and brewed coffee, teas, juices, pastry and snacks, all at reasonable prices. Yale Wi-Fi and email stations, plus a baby grand piano. Brown baggers welcome–

The Publick Cup, 276 York St, Open until midnight every night, the Publick Cup, once a franchise of Koffee on Audubon, offers ambiance and fair trade coffee and a wide variety of other beverage options, as well as an array of Panini, wraps, and salads during lunch hours.
Koffee on Audubon, 104 Audubon St. Offering fair-trade organic coffee and teas, Koffee on Audubon sits in the heart of the Audubon Arts district. Baked treats, including freshly baked muffins, cookies, and other treats, are absolutely delicious, as well as sandwiches and salads and H&H bagels from New York. Voted Best Free Wi-Fi and in the top three of the New Haven Advocate Readers’ Poll, Koffee has a cozy ambiance with plenty of seating.
Attitcus offers a standard menu of fair trade organic coffee and espresso beverages, but a delicious selection of sandwiches, soups (the Black Bean is a favorite), and salads, featuring local bakery Cha Baso, and exceptional dessert breads and truffles. Committed to free speech and literacy causes, independent bookseller is well-stocked with newest releases and the standards.
Woodland Coffee and Tea, 2 locations, Sherman’s Alley, 1044 Chapel St., near High; 97 Orange St., south of Chapel Woodland Coffee and Tea features a formidable selection of fair trade and organic coffee, espresso, and especially tea-based beverages, but very little by way of food at the Chapel Street location, breakfast and lunch all day at the Orange Street one. Both shops are small but with great service.
Booktrader Bookstore and Café, 1140 Chapel St., at York Catering largely to the art and architecture school crowds, Booktrader Café features coffee, tea, and a wide array of freshly prepared sandwiches. The Booktrader is also a used bookstore with wide selection.
